Security and Safety Solutions is a UK risk management and close protection consultancy founded by Tom Richmond, a former British Army Royal Military Police Close Protection Army Officer. We have been operating in the UK and internationally for over a decade, supporting corporate clients, business executives, Middle Eastern families, high-net-worth individuals, and creative agencies.
Our approach is bespoke, proportionate, and built around the specific risk profile of each client. We do not sell off-the-shelf packages and we do not oversell. Where less protection is the right answer, we say so.
About Tom Richmond
Tom is the managing director and leads the security operatives who work for Security and Safety Solutions. His career began in the British Army Royal Military Police, where he served as a Army Officer in the world renown Royal Military Police Close Protection Unit, and has operational experience working across the world. He has continued protective work at government level and across private sector engagements ever since leaving the military.
That operational background informs every part of how the business runs, from the way we conduct risk assessments, to the calm, low-profile manner our operatives take into client environments. The best protective work is the kind you do not notice. Tom built the business around that principle.
Tom is a frequent commentator on UK security industry matters and has been quoted by the BBC, Sky News, The Sun, LBC and iNews on topics ranging from close protection trends, Martyn’s Law, reducing violence in the workplace, and on UK crime and policing. He speaks publicly under his own name and stands behind every recommendation his firm makes.

Credentials and Qualifications
Tom holds the following formal credentials, each of which represents a substantive certification or qualification recognised in the UK and international security industry:
- CSM (Certificate in Security Management) a level 7 qualification from Buckinghamshire New University
- CPP (Certified Protection Professional) from ASIS International. The leading senior security management certification globally.
- NEBOSH National Diploma in Health and Safety. The benchmark professional qualification for safety practitioners in the UK, particularly relevant where security and safety responsibilities overlap
- SIA Close Protection licence. The UK regulatory licence required to provide commercial close protection services.
Beyond Tom personally, every operative we deploy carries the SIA licence appropriate to the role they are deployed in. The team draws heavily on the UK ex-military community, particularly veterans of the Royal Military Police and Special Operations units.
Recognition
Security and Safety Solutions is proud to hold the Armed Forces Covenant Bronze Award, recognising our commitment to supporting members and veterans of the UK armed forces in our workforce and operations.
We have been featured in editorial coverage on the BBC, Sky News, The Sun, LBC and iNews, and we contribute regular industry commentary to UK trade publications.
How We Work
Every engagement starts with a free, confidential conversation. There is no pressure, no minimum commitment to start a discussion, and complete confidentiality from the first contact onward.
Where the work makes sense for both sides, we agree a written scope, a fixed fee where possible, and a single point of contact for the duration. You will know exactly which operatives are working with you, and you will have direct contact with Tom throughout.
We do not subcontract our principal work. The operatives you book are our operatives, on our books, briefed and managed by us. That is unusual in the UK security industry and it is a deliberate operational choice.
Get in Touch
If you have a specific concern, are scoping options for a future need, or simply want to talk through what proportionate protection looks like for your situation, we would welcome an initial confidential conversation.
