The Premier League season has historical rivalries and local derbies that always produce some dangerous play. Importantly, with plenty of yellow and red cards being given to the players. But what is the most dangerous stadium to be a fan? It’s not just the Premier League Table of points for the season that fans should be monitoring. It’s also which stadium is the most dangerous!
Safety Group utilised FOI data from UK councils, police forces, fire services. However, and the UK Football Policing Unit on incidents reported at different football stadiums throughout the season. It revealed the most dangerous stadiums to attend using police reports on crimes committed at matches. the bans that the United Kingdom Football Policing Unit (UKFPU) gave out, fires attended, and council health and safety enforcements logged.
With the Liverpool Anfield Stadium emerging as top of the Premier League Table of Most Dangerous Football Stadiums, with a shocking score of 100/100.
Liverpool has been revealed as the most dangerous stadium in the Premier League. Moreover, with a whopping 100 out of 100 score, 20 points above the second-place team. Their police data score was the highest of all teams in the Premier League as in the 2024/25 season. There were 83 offences at Anfield, which equates to 4.3 police offences at every home game, with public order offences the most common.
Premier League Table - Three Most Dangerous Stadiums
In second place, in the Premier League Table of Most Dangerous Football Stadiums, was the Everton Goodison Park Stadium scoring 80 out of 100. Importantly, although 20 points less than Liverpool, they’re still 13 points ahead of 3rd place. With 36 police offences in 2024/25, 41 the season before, and 72 football fan bans last season, which was the third highest in the league. Everton now play at their new stadium, Hill Dickinson, and with the capacity increasing by a third. Will that be 33% more incidents, and they can beat Liverpool to the top spot, and Merseyside pride at last!
Third place in the Premier League table of the most dangerous stadiums, is Arsenal with a 63 out of 100 score. Furthermore, although they’re only 3 points above fellow London club Chelsea, they’re a huge two and a half times higher than their rivals Tottenham! With 30 police offences against Tottenham’s 31. But when it came to UKFPU banning orders, Arsenal received 47 last season in comparison to Tottenham’s 29, a whopping 62 per cent higher.
The Bournemouth Vitality Stadium has been revealed as the safest Premier League football stadium, as it scored only six out of 100 points. Moreover, with the least amount of football bans of all teams at just six in the whole 2023/24 season. and just two fire call-outs across the last two seasons. This stadium has the second-smallest capacity in the Premier League. but with expansion plans to increase capacity from 11,307 seats to 20,500, its position as the safest may change.
The second safest stadium is Fulham’s Craven Cottage, scoring just two more points than Bournemouth. Furthermore, with only two arrests last season and seven football bans. Considering this is the oldest football stadium in London, opening in 1897, it still stands as a fairly safe stadium.
Top Three Safest Stadiums
In third place, is Brighton & Hove Albion’s American Express Stadium, although scoring double the points at 16 out of 100. Moreover, they score 50% less than their M23 Derby rivals, Crystal Palace (32/100). Last season, they faced one breach, one enforcement, and 12 police offences. Compared to the previous season, of one fire and 25 bans.
The data shows a vast difference between Premier League football teams at the top and bottom of the Premier League table of safety rankings. However there is some correlation between the positions at the top of the most dangerous list (Liverpool Anfield Stadium and Everton’s Goodison Park). Perhaps the high pressure atmosphere, fan emotions, and the rival Merseyside Derby is a tinder box for fan safety. Then of course the Bournemouth Vitality Stadium and Brighton American Express Stadium are the safest, everyone feels calm when they are by the seaside!
